North Lincolnshire Council is committed to support new business ventures within the region, helping to create new employment opportunities locally. In partnership with central government, we are proud to offer support from a dedicated business start-up advisor to access skills and knowledge to develop your business idea and to then access potential financial support offered through our business start-up grant.

Support is directly tailored to your business needs. You will also have access to workshops, regular news updates and networking opportunities and much more via our business team support. Once you have completed your business plan and cash flow forecast, book an appointment with our business start-up advisor.

Business start-up grant A one-off payment to assist with starting a small business

The start-up grant is a one-off payment to assist individuals with business costs associated with becoming self-employed or starting a small business.

Grants are up to a maximum of £500, with a minimum grant amount of £100; this is a match funded amount at an intervention rate of 50%.

The funds are limited, so therefore only those applications that can demonstrate best value will be considered.

Grants can be utilised for revenue expenditure such as desktop computers, marketing and advertising. Additionally, it can cover specific start-up costs, such as those associated with accreditations or permits and training costs.

To access the grant an SME enrolment form will need to be completed alongside an EOI. The grant will need to be approved before any monies are spent; and any eligible costs will need to be paid upfront with the grant then being claimed.

Grant monies can only be paid into a business bank account; not a personal bank account, evidence of this will need to be shown.

Please note: if you have had the business start-up grant previously you will not be eligible, even if it is a new business.

Public sector organisations, domestic households, business linked to other organisations and the voluntary sector are ineligible.

The grant cannot be used to support; costs for mobile IT devices, ongoing normal business costs (business rates, overheads etc.).
