Entrepreneurs across North Lincolnshire are being backed to invest, innovate and stay ahead of competitors through a new grant designed to overcome tough trading conditions and create new jobs.
The scheme will help business upgrade equipment, embrace new technology, cut energy costs and drive productivity.
The scheme launches alongside a major success story for one of the area’s leading agribusinesses. Bennett Potatoes, based in Scawby near Brigg, received a grant through the last round of funding to support a technology investment that’s boosting production and cutting waste.
The grant has helped complete a state-of-the-art automated production line, adding a new pallet strapping system that improves product quality, reduces plastic use, and enhances sustainability. It forms part of the company’s wider £4.5m investment in advanced potato grading and packing facilities – a project that’s modernising operations and creating new local jobs.
The scheme supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that have been trading for more than 12 months, helping them strengthen their long-term sustainability, boost productivity and reduce energy costs.
Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis until all allocations are made, with grants supporting projects that are ready to start immediately once approved, such as:
- New plant, machinery or equipment to expand capacity or improve quality
- Introduction of new technologies or processes to improve productivity
- Diversification into new products or services
- Energy-saving measures such as solar panels, heat pumps or efficient machinery.
Grant levels:
Minimum project cost: £5,000 (grant of £2,500 plus £2,500 business contribution)
Maximum project cost: £10,000 (grant of £5,000 plus £5,000 business contribution)
Projects must be completed and claims submitted within 30 working days of the offer date.
